The International Course on Engineering Surveying (IVK) dates back to the Optical Distance Measurement Course of 1928, which was led by Otto von Gruber. Since 1970, the conference has been organized under the name “Engineering Surveying” in a four-year cycle by the Technical Universities of Munich, Zurich, and Graz. In order to keep pace with the rapid development of new instruments and methods in engineering surveying, the course has been held at shorter intervals of three years since the 2004 conference in Zurich.
These conference proceedings contain the written contributions of the 21st IVK, which reflect the current developments in engineering geodesy. The topics range from modern sensor technology (laser scanning, fiber optic sensing, InSAR) to building surveys and monitoring to current large-scale engineering geodesy projects.
