This Sustainability Report of TU Graz for the 2024 reporting year summarises the key impacts, risks, and opportunities across environmental, social, and governance matters and is aligned with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). The report follows the double materiality principle, covers the disclosures in accordance with the ESRS, and reports on the relevant topic-specific standards. It outlines the sustainability objectives anchored in the university’s strategy together with the policies, guidelines, programmes, and projects relevant to their implementation. Specific to the university context, the report documents the contributions of research and teaching to sustainability issues, including sustainability-related research output and the integration of sustainability-related content into teaching. Furthermore, measures and key figures in the areas of greenhouse gas emission reduction, energy management, substances of concern, resource management, and waste management are presented. On the social dimension, the TU Graz reports on relevant framework conditions affecting its own workforce as well as consumers and end users (e.g. students). Topics covered included working conditions, equal treatment and equal opportunities, as well as data protection. In addition, the report outlines governance structures, responsibilities, and internal control mechanisms that support the systematic further development of the TU Graz’s sustainability activities.
