The publishing house of Graz University of Technology (Verlag der Technischen Universität Graz) was established in the early 1990s. Drawing on many years of experience, we support members of TU Graz in publishing their scholarly work, thereby filling a gap between academic needs and commercial publishers. In particular, we offer early-career researchers a cost-effective platform to make their research achievements visible on an international level.
The publishing programme reflects the disciplinary spectrum of TU Graz and covers the fields of architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, economics and business administration, electrical engineering, information technology, mathematics, physics, geodesy, technical chemistry, chemical and process engineering, biotechnology, computer science, and biomedical engineering. Publications appear in a variety of formats, including monographs and edited volumes, dissertation series, conference proceedings, textbooks, and commemorative volumes. In addition, we are open to innovative forms of publication, especially in the area of digital publishing.
A key pillar of our publishing activities is the support of Open Access. As a proponent of the Open Access principle, the publishing house publishes a large proportion of its titles in freely accessible and cost-free online editions. In this way, unrestricted access to scholarly literature is provided to both the academic community and the wider public.

As a university press with a direct institutional link to the TU Graz Library, the publishing house maintains close and continuous exchange with scholars and researchers. This institutional integration enables the strategic bundling of key competencies in academic publishing, including publication consulting, quality assurance, metadata management, visibility and dissemination strategies, as well as Open Access and long-term preservation. On this basis, our services can be precisely tailored to the needs of the research community.
In order to offer researchers the highest possible quality standards, the publishing house works closely with other university presses in the German-speaking region. Since 2008, it has been a member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Universitätsverlage (Working Group of University Presses), committing itself to the implementation of measures that ensure both scholarly and formal quality as well as to the promotion of Open Access publications.
